Water Costs GrowMetropolitan Water District, the largest water supplier in Southern California, is ready to increase the cost of water it provides to 26 water districts in six counties. They serve a combined population of 18 million users. MWD says the funds are needed to cover the rising costs for electricity and endangered species protection. The increase will be 14.3 percent. Because MWD is the principal supplier for water to 26 separate cities and other water districts, there is sure to be a domino or ripple affect increasing water costs for every laundry business in this densely populated area.
This hike will cost an average homeowner about $1.50 a month. Most homeowners won’t even notice, but the laundry owners will.
