The Air Is FreeOne fluff and fold laundry provider became concerned about the high cost of drying -certain items that customers were bringing in. Specifically he was concerned about heavy sleeping bags, thick down comforters and heavy blankets. These were taking far too many quarters and accompanying natural gas to dry. That laundry normally offers same day or next day service on each order. So he instructed his attendants to advise the customers bringing in those items that it would take a few extra days. They were to tell customers it was a special treatment ''to make sure they are fluffy and odor free''. Instead of drying the bags and comforters completely in the dryers, they started them with two quarters, and then brought them into the back room to hang on lines to air dry. After a day or two, they take them back to the dryers to tumble and fluff up. The orders are then folded and wrapped and the customer is called for pick up. This owner really has no idea how much this is cutting the gas bill, but it makes him feel better to save something doing almost nothing. He has found it more -convenient for his attendants and customers, because it leaves more dryer pockets available for customers to use. He has really become fond of saying the air is free.
