NEW OLD LONELY JOINS MAYTAG

A brand new 'Old Lonely has been selected by Maytag to be their advertising icon. We all remember Jesse White, the first one, who originally rose to fame as a character actor in film and TV. Later on, Jesse was followed by Gordon Jump, also a TV character, perhaps best known from the sitcom WKRP. Hardy Rawls took Jumps place in 2003. Technically, the Maytag Repairman (Jesse White) was almost always introduced as Old Lonely, and for some the name stuck. The -latest Old Lonely is Clay Jackson of Richmond, Virginia. There had been 1500 folks who auditioned for the role. Jackson had left acting in 2000 to join his family''s real estate business, and tried out on a whim.
