NEW DOLLAR COIN IS IN CIRCULATION

The newest one dollar coin bearing the likeness of President George Washington is gold in color and is slightly larger and thicker than the standard quarter coin. The U.S. Mint seems determined to make this dollar coin a success, even though the last two failed expectations. The previous two, the Susan B. Anthony and Sacagawea were a hit with collectors but were thought to be too close in size to the quarter. Perhaps the gold color of this coin will be sufficient enough difference from the quarter to make it acceptable to the public. The mint plans to introduce one of the new presidential dollar coins every three months until all but the current White House occupant are recognized. This seems more of a ploy directed to the coin collector market.
