Have You Considered Adding Fluff n Fold

In this day and age, everyone seems to be too busy and they are looking for ways and means for personal convenience. Which is why you should consider adding fluff & fold and drop off dry cleaning services at your laundry. If you have attendants already, then these additional services can be a way to reduce your cash outlay for employees. If you’re paying employees to be there each day anyway, why not make some extra money above and beyond what you are paying them? Even if the area your laundry is in does not seem to be an ideal drop off zone, there will still be people who will use the service so you can add income to mitigate your labor costs. Some operators, when starting up, look to establishing commercial accounts. Even in areas with lower incomes, there are still some doctors, dentists, motels and eateries. These all need some form of laundry service, and who better to provide than you, someone from the neighborhood? To gain even more customers, advertise the heck out of your service, but do it in your own laundry with signs and promotional pieces to be seen and read by the customers you already have using your facility to do laundry. There will be times when their personal time will be more important to them than the mere money they’ll have to pay to get it done. Even in the poorer areas, there are still some laundry users who have money to spend on personal services, and they will do it if your advertising lets them know it is available. If you have employees working your laundry already, any extra income brought in by doing fluff & fold falls directly to the bottom line. There are some minor costs accrued by a laundry for tickets, wrapping supplies and for detergent used. One other thing that is important is to have honest employees, and the best way to be sure is to have a system in place that keeps them all honest. A cheat proof system of records is vital. How to accomplish a cheat proof system was covered in detail in the July issue. If you need a copy, just ask us. Doing fluff & fold for others gives you and your attendants an almost instant respect from customers as laundry experts and for knowing how to do things correctly. Being asked about how to do things right has an impact on your attendants too. They will ask questions and read to find the answers. If people think your attendants are experts, each attendant will try to become an expert. The purpose of this article is not to convince you to add fluff & fold services. It is rather to convince you to explore the possibilities for the bottom line. The best way to explore any potential service is to ask those doing business with you already. For instance, if they come to you for their self service wash, do they have dry cleaning to do? The best way to find commercial accounts is to ask them if they could and would use the service.
