Golden State CLA Members Hear Talk By Brian Wallace

With more than seventy people in attendance, special guest speaker Brian Wallace, President of Coin Laundry Association, discussed the biggest topic on the minds of laundry owners today - energy conservation. Wallace''s presentation was titled "Pricing Your Dryers for Profit". The entire talk was thorough and well received. He emphasized the need for modern day laundry operators to concentrate first on energy conservation, then adjust their laundry''s pricing structure upward, especially the dryers. The need for price increases is now a requirement for anyone who wants to succeed in the laundry business. Brian Wallace placed great emphasis on dryer pricing. His detailed presentation was in a slideshow format. He also showed the laundry owners how they might be losing money on every single dryer load. The entire talk was about recognizing what the real costs per load are. The discussion outlined common pricing strategies and what the problems may be using those strategies. He also gave some solutions for having sustained dryer profits. Brian also spoke about what was happening with energy costs and explained how the huge jumps in natural gas prices were affecting coin and card operated laundry owners throughout the nation. He showed graphs detailing how the futures market has spiked, and the costs for natural gas have followed those spikes. After this thoughtful and energetic presentation, the crowd gave Brian a loud standing ovation. One veteran member of the Golden State group told the News, "Brian Wallace is probably the best spokesman for our industry we''ve ever had".
